Terms and conditions

I hereby agree to allow Real Models to provide me projects as a model and agree to make all reasonable efforts to assist in modelling services when requested, but always subject to my availability.

I hereby confirm that I do not now have a contract with any other modelling services.

I understand and agree that I am not an employee of Real Models, and as such there is no employment contract. Real Models is facilitating a service that invites older people to volunteer for projects where older people are required as talent in photographs.

I understand that as a thank you for donating my time I will receive a gift voucher on the day and the value of the gift card depends on the length of time I am required at the shoot. I understand the time requirements are 2-3 hours (1/2 day) and 6-7 hours (full day).

I understand in the aged pension guidelines there is reference to people on a pension being allowed to receive such gifts as long as they are not considered to be of significant value.

Note: The Centrelink website is http://www.humanservices.gov.au/customer/enablers/assets
It states that assessable assets include the value of gifts worth more than $10,000 in a single year or more than $30,000 in a five year period. If you are at all unsure or uncomfortable, please contact Centrelink before accepting projects.

I accept it is my responsibility to get to the shoot location advised on or before the time stated on the Call Sheet. I understand that Real Models is in no way responsible for any accidents or injuries I may have on the way to ore from a shoot location.

I understand that for shoots that require travel extended distances, such as over 100kms transport will be arranged or an appropriate disbursement will be provided.

I accept that Real Models is paid a service fee from their clients to co-ordinate models for given projects and that amount is confidential between the client and Real Models.

I accept that for each job I will be asked to sign a talent release form that allows the usage of my image from the shoot unconditionally, without further claim of a fee or compensation from me at any time.

I understand that much planning goes into arranging a photography shoot and to replace people at short notice is difficult. I will contact Real Models as soon as possible if I am unable to attend a shoot after accepting and offer from Real Models. I will phone the Real Models office on (03) 9413 9900 and ask to speak to the Real Models co-ordinator.

I agree to keep Real Models informed of my correct contact details including home phone, mobile phone and e-mail address.

This agreement may be terminated at any time by either party upon 30 days prior written notice to the other party, by e-mail to info@realmodels.com.au or post to Real Models, PO Box 3011, Richmond 3121.

Do you keep my personal details secure?
When you sign up to Real Models, your details are added to our database so that we can contact you to discuss opportunities to participate in photo shoots as they arise. Please be assured that your personal data is kept on a secure computer. Personal contact information is not sold or given to third parties, and does not appear on any websites or public forums.

Am I being employed by Real Models?
It is important to note that you are not being employed by Real Models, and as such there is no employment contract. Most of our models consider it more as a hobby. Real Models is facilitating a service that invites older people to volunteer for projects where older people are required as talent in photographs.

Do I receive anything for attending a photo shoot?
As a thank you for donating your time on the day, we provide a gift vouchers from a major retailer such as Coles Myer. The value of the gift card will depend on the length of the shoot, but the standard is $50 for 2-3 hours (1/2 day) and $100 for 6-7 hours (full day). The most common time commitment is 2-3 hours. The aged pension guidelines indicate that pensioners are allowed to receive such gifts as long as they are not considered to be of significant value. It states that assessable assets include the value of gifts worth more than $10,000 in a single year or more than $30,000 in a five year period. If you are unsure or uncomfortable, please contact Centrelink before accepting projects.

Will a photo shoot create inconvenience to my lifestyle?
We do our best to make the process as fun and easy as possible. For example, we will schedule shoots outside of peak hour to avoid heavy traffic where possible.
Most of our models say it’s not about the money, it’s a fun and interesting day out.

How does Real Models contact me about photo shoots?
When we receive requests for photo shoots, we contact appropriate models based on the requirements normally by e-mail, as it is faster than making phone calls.

Do I have to accept photo shoots offered to me?
At all times, it is up to you to say ‘yes’ if you would like to be part of the shoot. Signing up with Real Models does not commit you to accept the jobs you are offered. You decide the shoots you want to attend and those you don’t.

Why will I be chosen for a photo shoot?
Many factors affect the choice of models based what the advertiser is trying to portray, the location and activities required in the shot.  Sometimes we need large groups so we will recruit a lot of models; some will be seen in the foreground (front of the picture) and some in background, but everyone has a role to play. Occasionally we will hold a casting session, particularly if it for a TV shoot. This helps us determine how comfortable you are in front of a camera. You will be given ample notice and details.

What to wear?
We will often ask you to bring a few changes of clothes to suit the shoot, so we can mix colours around. For instance, you may be asked to bring an outfit to go walking in and one to go out to dinner. Brighter colours work best for photography as a rule.

What happens about meals?
At all of our shoots, we offer light refreshments such as biscuits and drinks. If a shoot requires models in attendance during the middle of the day, lunch is provided and is usually a selection of sandwiches and fruit. If you have specific food intolerances or special dietary requirements, we encourage you to bring your own food to be safe.

How do I get to the shoot location?
Information on the location, time, travel, parking and what to bring is all confirmed 24 hours prior to the shoot via an e-mail containing a ‘Call Sheet’. It your responsibility to get yourself to the shoot location, on or before the time stated on the Call Sheet. Real Models are in no way responsible for any accidents of injuries on your way to or from a shoot location. For shoots that require you to travel extended distances, such as over 100kms, transport will be arranged or an appropriate disbursement will be provided to you.

What happens at the photo shoot?
At the shoot you will be provided clear instructions on what will be happening. You will be asked to sign a consent form giving the client the right to use your image in their advertising. If you think your family may have an issue seeing your image used in advertising, please discuss the this issue with them before you accept the offer of being in a photo shoot. Getting professional photographs taken for advertising is a significant investment for an advertiser, and quite often they will want to use that image for a couple of years. We’ll tell you where you can expect to see your image (most often it will be in the local press or senior newspapers) and we can send you a copy of the shot via email so you can show your friends and family. For shoots that require various locations, we organise a safe ‘home base’ where models can change and rest between various shoots.

What happens if I am unable to attend a photo shoot after accepting?
Weeks of planning go into arranging a photo shoot and to replace people at short notice is near impossible. By not turning up without contacting Real Models prior may jeopardise the shoot going ahead and inconvenience others. We understand that people’s plans change, but we do ask that you contact us as soon as possible if you cannot attend a shoot you have agreed to attend. Please phone 9413 9900 and ask to speak to the Real Models co-ordinator. If you’re planning to be away for long periods of time, drop us an email so we know not to bother you.

All that’s left for you to do is enrol.
